Trauma & PTSD Therapy
You know what happened. You may have even talked about it in therapy before. Still, your body reacts like it's happening all over again. Your heart races at a certain sound, your shoulders stay up around your ears, and you can't remember the last time you felt truly at ease. You're exhausted from bracing for something that never comes.
You're not overreacting, and you're not stuck because you haven't tried hard enough. Trauma lives in the nervous system, and that's where it can heal too.
Signs You Could Benefit from Trauma and PTSD Therapy
Trauma isn't only the big, obvious events. It can also be years of feeling unsafe, unseen, or alone with things no one should have to carry by themselves. Whether you've been diagnosed with PTSD or just know something hasn't felt right since, you might notice:
✦ A constant sense of tension or alertness, even when nothing is wrong
✦Flashbacks, nightmares, or memories that show up uninvited
✦Reactions that feel too big for the moment and leave you confused or ashamed afterward
✦Avoiding places, conversations, or relationships that stir things up
✦A harsh inner voice telling you that you should be over this by now
✦Trouble sleeping, or tension your body never seems to release
If any of this feels familiar, that's reason enough to reach out…
Trauma and PTSD Therapy in Lake Charles Can Help
Understanding where your pain comes from is meaningful, and it isn't always enough to change how you feel. When your nervous system learned to survive something hard, it doesn't automatically stand down just because you know you're safe now. That's not a personal failure. It's protection that hasn't caught up with your present.
Trauma and PTSD therapy gives your body the chance to catch up. I work with adults in Lake Charles who are ready for something that goes deeper than insight alone, and we'll move at a pace that keeps you feeling grounded the whole way through.
Benefits of Trauma Therapy
Trying to heal trauma on your own often means trying to think your way out of something your body is still holding. With the right support, many people begin to notice:
✧Feeling more settled and at home in their body
✧Triggers losing their intensity, and coming back to calm more quickly
✧Deeper, more restful sleep
✧More compassion and less shame toward themselves
✧Feeling present and connected in their relationships
✧Memories that feel like the past instead of something still happening
My Approach to Trauma and PTSD Therapy
Here's what I want you to know: you don't have to relive everything to heal from it. My work is trauma-informed from the first session, which means safety comes before anything else. We start by building resources that help you feel steady, so you know how to find your way back to calm when something gets stirred up.
From there, I use EMDR therapy alongside other evidence-based approaches that work with your body, not just your thoughts. I also make room for the different parts of you, like the part that stays on guard or the part that wants to shut down. Those parts learned to protect you for a reason, and we'll get curious about them instead of pushing them aside.
You set the pace. I'll be right there with you.
