EMDR Therapy

You've done the work. You can explain your patterns, name where they came from, and maybe even trace them back to specific moments. Even so, when something hits a nerve, your body reacts before your mind can catch up. If understanding your story hasn't brought the relief you were hoping for, EMDR may be the missing piece.

What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It's a well-researched therapy that helps your brain finish processing experiences that got stuck because they were too overwhelming to take in at the time.

During EMDR, you briefly bring a memory to mind while following bilateral stimulation, like eye movements, tapping, or tones that alternate from side to side. This helps your nervous system process the memory so it can settle where it belongs: in the past. The memory stays, and the charge around it softens. Many people describe being able to think about what happened without their body reacting like it's happening again.

Reasons You Could Benefit from EMDR Therapy

EMDR therapy may be a good fit for you if you:

✦ Understand your story but still feel stuck in the same reactions

✦Have been through one traumatic event, or many hard experiences over time

✦Feel anxious, on edge, or easily startled without a clear reason

✦Carry deep beliefs like "I'm not enough," "I'm not safe," or "it was my fault"

✦Have tried talk therapy and felt like something was still missing

✦Find it overwhelming to talk about what happened in detail

If any of this feels familiar, that's reason enough to reach out…

How EMDR Therapy Can Help You

One of the things clients find most relieving about EMDR is that you don't have to share every detail of your story for it to work. Your brain already knows how to heal. EMDR helps clear the path so it can.

As memories are processed, many people notice:

  • Fewer intrusive memories, flashbacks, or nightmares

  • Reactions that feel proportionate to the moment

  • Painful beliefs about themselves loosening their hold

  • A steadier, calmer baseline day to day

  • More trust in themselves and their ability to handle hard things

  • Changes that feel lasting, not just managed

My Approach to Trauma and PTSD Therapy

I've completed EMDRIA-approved EMDR training, and EMDR is at the center of my trauma and PTSD therapy with adults. I care deeply about making sure you feel resourced and ready before we ever begin processing.

I also weave in body-based and parts-informed approaches, because real change often needs to happen in the body, not just in your thoughts. If part of you feels hesitant about starting, that part is welcome here too. We'll listen to it rather than push past it.

My hope is that you leave feeling like the past no longer runs the show.
