You're Not Imagining It

You wake up already feeling like you're drowning, before the day has even started. You're tense, on edge, bracing for something even when nothing is actually wrong. A memory shows up uninvited, or a reaction hits that feels too big for the moment. You've tried working through this before and still feel stuck, or this is the first time you've considered support at all. You're not imagining it, and you're not doing something wrong. Your nervous system is still holding onto something it hasn't finished processing.

DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU?

  • You feel overwhelmed before the day has even started, like you're already behind before you begin.

  • You're exhausted from constantly being "on," staying productive, and appearing fine while struggling internally.

  • Your reactions feel automatic, disproportionate, or hard to control, and you don't fully understand why.

  • You've done the work: therapy, self-help, understanding your story, but you still feel the emotional and physical impact of it.

  • You question your own feelings, reactions, or ability to regulate, and you've started to wonder if something about you is broken.

  • You're tired of managing symptoms and ready for something that actually creates lasting change.

TRAUMA THERAPIST IN LAKE CHARLES, LA

Hi, I'm Hillary. I work with people who've already done real work to understand themselves, and who are frustrated that insight alone hasn't created relief. You know something is wrong. You just don't understand why your reactions feel automatic, disproportionate, or hard to control, even when you know, logically, that you're safe.

Here's what I want you to know: you're not failing at healing. Your body is still protecting you from something it learned to survive. That gap between understanding your story and actually feeling different in your body isn't a sign you're doing something wrong. It's a sign your nervous system needs a different kind of support, one that works with your body, not just your thoughts.

Support for both single-incident trauma and the buildup of multiple experiences over time. I use EMDR to help your brain and body process what happened, rather than just talking around it session after session. Over time, old memories and reactions stop feeling like they're happening in real time, and you gain more room to feel present instead of constantly bracing for something bad.
For clients who've spent years staying quiet, saying the right things, and putting everyone else's needs first, often at the cost of their own. We'll work on understanding where these patterns came from, what they've been protecting you from, and how to build boundaries that feel steady rather than guilt-ridden.

Identity & Sense of Self

For clients who feel disconnected from who they are, whether from years of shaping themselves around other people's expectations, past experiences that reshaped how they see themselves, or simply losing touch with their own voice along the way. This work is about reconnecting with what's actually yours: your values, your preferences, your sense of self, separate from what you learned to perform.
